Maybe you’ve asked yourself, what does Kelley G. Tedd need a Blog for? Even if you haven’t asked, my wife certainly has, I am going to tell you.
I use (and have used) many popular publishing/blog/microblog platforms on the Internet including, jaiku (My favorite, but essentially Dead since Google bought it), a tubmlrlog (tumblr, still there), a flikr account (strong as ever), a VoxBlog (might as well be dead), a Viddler Account (might as well be dead), a Newsvine account (who?!), a Facebook account (love it, but hate the FaceBook’s disregard for users’ privacy!), Vimeo (getting better every day!), a Twitter Account (only because, who doesn’t?!), a Friendfeed (showed great potential, but few use it since FaceBook bought it!) and I even had a Pownce Account (died a quick death). So what in the world do I need a Blog for? I have enough presence on the Net, don’t I?
I thought so too, until I realized the source of a small aching feeling that was coming from inside. See, all of those places are about me and my family. They help keep family and friends around the world updated about us in text, picture, and video. Its great and I love doing it and it takes virtually no time. I’m glad that people can keep up with us; however, I have thoughts pinned up inside me that are itching to get out. Thoughts on everything from my faith in God, to the faith of others, from the classic TV show M*A*S*H to Prision Break (no longer running), from geopolitical differences between France and The United States to the rise of China, on everything from the iPhone to the Zune, from the Sony Battery explosions to DRM, from the weather in Greece to the political chaos in Hungary, from dabs of history to living through historical moments. These thoughts and opinions will be the basis of TeddISM.
I live a rather interesting life, if I may say so myself. Not a unique life, but an interesting one. I am first and foremost a Son of God. I serve actively in my Church – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, oft known as the “Mormons”. I am a dedicated Family Man (I LOVE my Wife, Tündi, and three children, Emma and Benson, and Olivia!), I am an American, living in Hungary, actively working in 8 countries in Central / Southern Europe and in the Middle East. I also travel extensively throughout Europe. I speak English (Mother Tongue), Hungarian (as fluently as a non-Hungarian can), and I have aspirations to learn Greek. I have my own business – we do Facility Management as well as Internet Consultancy. I am an avid user of the Internet. I started using the Internet in 1981! That’s right, way back in 1981, long before the Internet was what it is today. Back then, it was a network connecting Scientific reaserchers and Universities. My first computer was a Commodore Vic-20 and I gradually moved though the ranks of Commodores, and Amigas, then on to Ataris, Macs, and PCs (or “PC Compatible”, as we called them) as technology evolved. I avidly follow US and World Politics, as well as Technology to a obsession. Essentially, as I state at the top of the Blog, Teddism is where we ‘move toward the future together’.
In summary, TeddISM, will not focus on my family, for that you can follow me and us many other places on the Net, but rather a collection of this author’s thoughts, things we are living through, and reporting of current events from anywhere in the world. I love to look forward and I’d enjoy doing it with you. So lets move forward together!
